A day in the life of Our Delivery Team
Here at Pentagon Food Group, we put the customer at the forefront of everything we do, and we endeavor to ensure that the customer journey is a smooth and efficient as possible.
Two key roles within our Delivery Team, are the Driver and the Driver’s Mate. These roles are the face of Pentagon Food Group as they see our customers every day, when they visit the Customer’s businesses to deliver our quality goods.
What do they do?
But it goes beyond just quality products, as we expect quality and consistent customer service at the same time. Pentagon food Group is very proud of their Delivery Team and their passion for their roles, is second to none.
So…. What does a typical day look like for our Service Ambassadors out on the road?
The night starts when our fleet return and ready the vehicles for the following day. Behind the scenes, our team in the Pakistan Shared Service Centre, are optimising the routes and compiling the daily communications and instructions. The Drivers and Driver Mates also get visibility of their route the night before and will also have input into what is the most effective route, as they are the ones who do this week in week out and know our customers.
The following morning, the team will have a briefing with the Operations Manager and discuss any special instructions. Meanwhile the vehicles are loaded by the Warehouse Team, in our temperature-controlled trucks ready to take off. The Driver will then complete a full vehicle inspection to make sure that the truck is safe and legal to be on the busy roads of the UK.
Once all the checks are completed, then the busy day starts. Pentagon Food Group has hundreds of valued customers covering areas such as, North Wales, Penrith, The North West, The West and East Midlands, Shropshire and of course Staffordshire, where the Pentagon Foods Family are based in the UK.
Some of the fleet start at 6.00am and have many miles to travel before they reach their first customer. It is a tough job with a lot of heavy manual handling, but the Team always deliver. However, our delivery service goes beyond just “dropping off” the customers products. This is where the Team go the extra mile for our valued customers by:
- Safely Offloading the delivery which can range from 1 to 3 pallets per customer
- Fully check off the delivery to ensure ever product is there and not damaged
- Put the products in storerooms, freezers, and fridges or where the customer requires
- Ensures that the customer is happy and has their full order
- Ensuring that COVID 19 guidelines are followed
Not many Company’s can say that they give that level of service to their customers, but we pride ourselves with the relationship that the Company has with our customers. The relationships and knowledge that the Drivers and Drivers Mates have with our customers, is testament to their commitment to their role and Pentagon Food Group.
